Siena and San Gimignano are both medieval towns and UNESCO World Heritage sites, but that’s where the similarities end.
San Gimignano enjoyed a period of prosperity but when the main pilgrimage route, upon which the town sat, changed course it became a town lost in time. Its tower houses still pierce the skyline today, as in ages past.
Siena, on the other hand, was on the new pilgrimage route and also engaged in trade and banking. The city prospered and eventually became an independent Republic with a power to rival that of Florence, with which it was often in conflict. Siena was finally defeated in 1555 and incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, whose capital was…Florence!
This car tour is a great way to maximize your visit as our vehicle can give you full access to these pedestrianized historic centers. Need a special restaurant for a memorable Tuscan meal? Your driver will be happy to make some suggestions.

Cinque Terre Tour

- Departure directly from your accomodation
- Pick-up time: suggested in between 7:30am and 9:00am
- we suggest to wear comfortable shoes.
- Several stops for great pictures!
The Cinque Terre, or “Five Lands”, is a UNESCO World Heritage site of exceptional beauty; five tiny villages nestled among the coastal cliffs like jewels in a crown.
Due to the nature of the terrain and to road closures in recent years, the best and most convenient way to visit the villages of the Cinque Terre is to combine your private vehicle with boats and/or trains as well as walking.
Once we reach the area of the Cinque Terre National Park in your private vehicle, we’ll discuss how best to continue your visit, as travel via boat is subject to the whims of weather and sea conditions. In poor conditions, the boats won’t be running so the itinerary will need to be adapted at that moment.
Every visit is truly unique, so we usually prefer not to give a set itinerary to our clients for this tour. Through long experience, we’ve realized that it’s much better to arrive at the second village, Manarola, and see what the situation is then decide with our clients how to organize the day.
There are many, many variables to consider on a visit to the Cinque Terre which have a strong influence on how the visit should best be conducted.
It could be that the seas are rough and so the boats are not running. It could be that Manarola is very crowded because there are several cruise ships in the nearby ports. In that case, we like to change the itinerary in order to make the experience more enjoyable for our customers.
You’ll have one driver and one vehicle. At your first stop, the driver will consult with you to determine the best way to move around the Cinque Terre.
Your driver will assist you with any necessary tickets and give you all the information necessary to complete your visit and meet him at the arranged time and place for your return journey.
